Wood, Frosted Glass, PIR sensors and 12 LED’s
A site-specific interactive sculpture created for a musical performance evening to celebrate the launch of Laurie McNamee’s debut album, presented by The Slathered Lamb in Farringdon, London. A.L.F’s interactivity was made to resemble that of a primitive game, reflecting the features and history of the venue. The sculpture uses 12 PIR’s triggering 12 LED’s, all the PIR’s and LED’s are interconnected in the various shaped hollow spaces. As movement is detected within a certain space a light is triggered in the connecting shape, the light is triggered for a set period of time.
The user is absorbed into the process/challenge of triggering all 12 LED’s before the first activated light times out. This however is designed to be an impossible for one single user to complete. The sculpture aims to highlight and encourage multiple users to work together to realize the entire completion of the work, creating an interaction not only with the sculpture but also with each other.
